What Is CanSat?

CanSat is a small satellite that is placed inside a soft drinks can and brought several hundred metres to a kilometer into the air.  It is connected by radio transmitters to a laptop

What will the satellite be doing?

We have two different challenges completed, the primary mission and the secondary mission.

Primary Mission: The satellite has a thermistor and a pressure sensor connected to it; these record the change in temperature and pressure as the can rises which allows us to find the altitude.

Secondary Mission: Our secondary missions include a humidity sensor which records the level of moisture in the air, a GPS shield which records the lattiitude and longitude of the CanSat so we can locate it, an accelerometer which records the forces acting on the can, flexible solar panels fitted around the can to trickle feed the battery, improved data reception on the ground using a parabolic dish and finally a real-time animated graph of some of our data matched up to a video of the launch.
