Parachute Test #2

After we qualified for the CanSat national competition which will be held in Birr, Co. Offaly on the 14th & 15th April, we had a lot of work to do to be prepared. We needed to ensure we had a good secondary mission, so we worked hard and implemented a GPS, an accelerometer and a humidity sensor into our CanSat. There was only one thing left to do before the big day, to test out our parachutes.

As before, local photographer Darren Kinsella kindly gave us the use of his quad-copter. We had two parachutes to test, but this time, instead of filling a normal can with stones, we used our actual CanSat. Thankfully, things went to plan and we didn't lose any parachutes or CanSats. We sent both parachutes up separately with the drone and both came down as expected without even a scratch to the can.
