XILINX Ireland

On Thursday 15th June, we traveled to Citywest, Dublin, to give a presentation to a company called XILINX. This had all come to light after meeting a man named Peng Lim at the Excite Digital Learning Festival in Dublin Castle back in May. Mr. Lim worked as a programmer at XILINX Ireland and was very interested in our project. As a result of this, XILINX Ireland agreed to sponsor us, which hugely helped us in getting to Portugal as well as further developing our CanSat. In return, we would promote their company as well as give any interested staff a presentation.

We arrived at XILINX at around 10:15, and spent the next 45 minutes setting up for our presentation, which included a few "technical issues". We started around 11:10 and spent the next forty minutes explaining all about our project. After this, almost every single person in the room had questions for us, while also giving us some pointers about both presentation skills and the technology we were using. They all seemed quite impressed about our achievements.

After that, we were taken to the canteen to have lunch, where we were joined by some of the workers at XILINX. They told us all about their jobs and the kind of projects they were working on. A little while later, after we had all finished our lunches, Mr. Lim showed us the lab he was in. It was very interesting to see what was going on.
